Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I will be away from the blog until April 1. We are all packed up and ready to go on our (desperately needed) Florida vacation. I am so longing to see the ocean, feel the warm sun, and leave this cold Michigan weather behind. I do plan on checking out some shops while I’m on vacation and will share with you any good finds.
These Uber French (yes, that’s the name) suitcases from Design Child are just adorable!

If you happen to be in the Philadelphia area, check out the Philadelphia Museum of Art where they are exhibiting the work of Italian designer and artist Roberto Capucci. The exhibition features 80 works of art spanning a 60 year career which also includes original drawings and sketches.
The dress on the left is the Arancia Sculpture dress (1982), while the other is the Sculpture (1992). This exhibition will run March 16 – June 5.

Maybe its because the textured brush strokes look like whipped frosting, but these cake paintings by Paul Ferney look good enough to eat!
Delicious prints of these paintings (and more) are available here.

Good Morning friends! This week I will be busy planning and packing for our family trip to sunny skies Florida. We will be spending 10 glorious days at the beach and hopefully stuffing ourselves with lots of seafood (thankfully the kids love it)! Nothing will be rushed or fast paced (not that it can be with two small kids) as my plan is for all of us to do some chilaxin’. I don’t know why, but this tea cup’s illustration below grabbed my attention this morning and made me think of our trip.

Ok lovies, I feel really bad that many of you emailed me instead of leaving a comment on the giveaway post. Unfortunately, I must follow the rules provided and therefore cannot count your emails as a comment
However, the show must go on and so a winner must be selected. I used Random.org for generating a random number which I aligned with the comments. And the winner of the Domino book is…. Suzie D! Congratulations!!!

One year and over 220+ posts later, House of Many Hues is celebrating its 1st Birthday! It all started with the idea to have a place where I could document and most importantly share sparks of inspiration. The journey has been incredible and I’ve learned so much about myself (and Wordpress!). To celebrate I will be giving away one brand new copy of Domino – The Book of Decorating. This book is definitely one of my top favorites and I think the lucky winner will also find it a wonderful resource.
If you would like to enter, the rules are as follows:1. Leave a comment on this post (below) with your first name, the initial of your last name, and a couple words why you love House of Many Hues. 2. Include a valid email address (don’t worry, only I will be able to see your email).
3. One entry per person.
The winner will be announced in a new post on Thursday, March 10.Good Luck everyone!

Have I told you how very glad I am to have a place where we can come together and share idea’s? No, really. Have I mentioned that I find happiness, creativity, inspiration, peace, and an overall good feeling when I am here with you? I’m sure you must be wondering what is going on with me today. Its just that there are days I wish my dreams were already a reality. I know that I must have patience as good things come to those who wait, right? I really hope so because I would love to be doing this everyday full time. Until then, I want to talk about Nick Olsen, an interior decorator who worked for former Domino magazine. Oh, and I also want to share a special treat with you later on – so stay tuned!
But back to Nick Olsen, who by the way is known for his do-it-yourself projects – especially refinishing furniture. I love his bold chic style and thought to share some photos of his apartment.
How gorgeous is the white fireplace against the lime walls? Just beautiful. I wonder if the fireplace is original to his apartment?
The photo above is that of an Ikea coffee table that Nick covered with marbleized paper. How cool did that turn out? He just has a knack for enhancing furniture. In fact, Lonny magazine recently did a great How-To article with Nick. If your interested in learning how to paint a dresser and have it turn out looking professional, check it out here.
Alrighty lovies, I’m sure your wondering what the treat I mentioned above is all about. Coming up is House of Many Hues 1st birthday! Whoo hoo! And to celebrate we will be having a giveaway. Want to know about the giveaway? Join me here tomorrow to find out more.
